Not an Ordinary Trip!

Perhaps you have noticed that I have not posted anything for a while. Due in part to travel and Independence Day celebrations, the lack of posts is mainly due to recent preparations for a very special trip. And this is not your ordinary trip. In fact, only a month ago, it would never have even crossed my mind as even being feasible. But that is the nature of these kind of expeditions sometimes. 🙂

Until till now, I’ve only dreamed of exploring the Amazon jungle or trekking the Andes mountains. But now it is almost reality! Along with an energetic team of other young people, I’m heading to Peru tomorrow on my first missions trip south of the equator.

Sightseeing is what everyone does on vacation; this trip is going to be sooo much better! From July 12 to 17 we are scheduled to interact with the populous, especially the poor in Lima, cleaning, painting, building, speaking, teaching kids, telling stories . . . whatever we can do to encourage the people we meet. To be able to do this kind of work, with a camera, is more than a dream come true!

Stay tuned! I found out today that I might have Internet access to post pictures and updates live from Peru. Please pray for energy, strength, and boldness as we strive in spirit to be “eyes to the blind, and feet . . . to the lame . . . . [and] a father to the poor . . .” (Job 29:15-16).

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world" (James 1:27).
