After returning from my excursion to the West Coast on the 22nd, I had the opportunity of being on a Journey to the Heart team in the Northwoods of Michigan for a week. By that time of year, the autumn colors had almost fully faded that far north, but there were a few birch specimens that were lagging behind their compatriots. This particular tree was photographed at the Black River Harbor Campground along the shores of Lake Superior. Along with the untamed shore and fall colors, Black River Harbor also boasts a few attractive waterfalls along the Black River worth stopping to see if you are ever in the area.
