I took this picture over the summer and think it’s a good illustration of a quote I heard even earlier this year by Tom Hill:
“Contentment allows you to manage your resources
while keeping resources from managing you.”
The hummingbird is an excellent manager of it’s resources. Because it burns so much energy in gathering it’s energy, wasting it can be life-threatening. Though discontent might not cost us our lives immediately, applying contentment in daily decisions can insulate us from a life of heartache and financial pressure in the long run. This is especially true for photographers who are constantly barraged with all the lure and glamour and of the latest and greatest!
