It Has Arrived!

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II has now started it’s active service after arriving in the mail today! Besides popping in the battery and releasing the shutter a few times to hear what it sounded like and to test the video function, I haven’t done much with it yet. I’m looking forward to fiddling around with it more when I get the time. It shouldn’t be too long.  Canon-EOS-5D-Mark-II-with-24-105mm-Lens

This is the first time I have ever purchased a used piece of equipment. I usually purchase equipment new or refurbished, but with a camera of this rank and durability, I couldn’t afford it new, refurbished wasn’t much better a price, and the fellow I bought it from had hardly used it, took great care of it and showed how it had less than 6,000 shutter actuations. Of course there’s always the risk, but with the 5D’s life-expectancy of 150,000 clicks, I figured I would take it.

I also don’t usually purchase used equipment because it’s harder to re-sell when I want to upgrade. As things stand right now, however, I will never upgrade this camera. If photography pursuits do require an upgrade in the future, the 5D would simply stay in my possession as a backup.
