Excursion to Maryland

Of all the pictures I have ever taken, I can’t think of one single image that I have taken in the state of Maryland! That is, until a few weeks ago.

On a weekend excursion to the Normoyle’s home in Dickerson, MD, our families took a hike close to their home to a beautiful, little overlook in Sugarloaf Mountain Natural Area. It was while standing here, looking over the misty plane toward the Potomac River, that I began to search my memory for previous excursions to this tiny state. Nothing came to mind, and I still can’t think of any previous time, so even though it wasn’t a spectacular day for pictures, nor was their time for photography at the more dramatic hours of light, this excursion has a fond place in my memory of my first “real” visit to Maryland. Thank you, Normoyles, for inviting us over!

This James is a GREAT example and a reminder of capturing family memories while still enjoying photography! Which is very important! Many times I look back at the pictures I have taken and as I start to admire the beauty in the landscapes I then realize all of the memories that I have forgotten to capture with family and friends!
