After tweaking a shot taken soon after the snowstorm Jonas last weekend, I figured it would be easier to show the many tweaks and edits I made in Lightroom and Photoshop in a video instead of in written text and screenshots.

Very seldom do I take such liberties to fix up a picture like I did with this one. But even if you’re a realist, it’s very important that you do know how to make major edits in programs like Photoshop. The tastes of those for whom you work are most often different than your own. Being a good photographer is more than just knowing how to take pictures that you like. It’s knowing how to utilize each tool in the photographers toolbox, be it camera or software, to create the kind of pictures that meet the needs around us. In this day and age, Photoshop is one of those indispensable tools.

Very interesting! I’m a realist and still I appreciate the way you’ve used the tools here. With the end in mind, taking the liberty to emphasize the values and colors makes this a “Thomas Kinkade of photography”.
