Photography Exposure Cheat Sheet!

by | Jun 29, 2018 | Tips & Tricks | 3 comments

What do you say? Is seeing easier than reading? I’d say so!

Here’s a little cheat sheet to help you visually remember what’s important in photography exposure: which camera settings affect exposure, how those settings affect the way your photos look, and some ballpark numbers to help you know how to choose a proper exposure for special situations.

And best of all, it’s free to download! Just click on the image below, then click on the “Download” icon to download it. Put it on a smartphone and whip it out next time you need a reminder in the field.

I can’t post such a beautifully designed infographic without giving a shout-out to the one who put the bulk of the work into it! Dan over at Backdrop Store saw the blog post, Directing The Eye Using Overexposure, and sent me an email asking if I might be interested in posting it.

Of course, I was! He even sent over the original Illustrator file so I could doctor it up and make it look exactly like I wanted. Smile

Thanks, Dan! Info graphics aren’t easy to put together. May it help many budding photographers become better photographers.

That’s a neat chart! Very well laid out too; I’m sure it will come in handy. Now, I don’t know if I’m getting into something super complicated here, but… circle of confusion?? Could you elaborate on that?

Awesome cheat sheet! This would be so helpful for a beginner photographer, so I’ve gone a head and saved it in case I come across any to share it with! I’m also interested in the circle of confusion. I’m not quite sure what the picture is saying, so would be interested in learning a bit more about that.
