Hey @blake, the colorful specs are hot pixels that appear due to long exposures. Cambridge In Colour calls it “Fixed pattern noise” http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/image-noise.htm
Do you have a program like Lightroom? Some programs are able to detect and remove this type of noise.
