Let me see if I can explain my feelings on the composition: Because the flag is in the middle of the frame, with equal weight on either side, my brain keeps thinking that there should be as equal a part of the story on the right side of the flag as on the left. Since there’s nothing on the right, it makes the picture feel empty, and the story is only old told half as strong as it should be.
