I like the second picture more because of the angle that you took. I think an angle similar to that on the first one would give it a little bit less of the “documentary” feel, unless that is what you were trying to achieve. The only other thing I notice is that the background is not blurred very much, which distracts your eyes from the picture. Perhaps a lower f-stop would help blur it out a bit more, and lighten up the face.
