Hi @blessingscaptured – I totally understand where you’re coming from here! I get in ruts too. 😉
Thoughts in general:
– I notice that you’ve got similar lighting in these three photos, so perhaps try shooting at different types of day. Golden hour in the morning I love the combo of backlight and dew!
– If your pictures are always looking the same I think it means that you’re looking at the flowers the same as always. Try to see them in a new way, appreciate a new aspect of them, and capture that with a new angle or zoom in a way you haven’t necessarily done before. A phrase James once said was “Anglify to amplify” and that often tosses around in my head when I’m trying to get creative.
– In editing, you could maybe experiment with B&W, or B&W & color combined. I myself haven’t done a whole lot in this area, but I’ve seen it done tastefully, and I’ll probably be experimenting a bit with that some point soon.
Of these three photos, I like the third the most. It’s nice and simple. 🙂 The second photo has beautiful vibrant colors, but all the branches and flowers are going all over the place and it looks a bit haphazard. Also there are some out-of-focus flowers sticking out in front of the flowers that are in focus, so it’s a little bit confusing for the eye to figure out what all is going on.
I’m looking forward to capturing spring flowers again, too! They’re just starting to peek out of the ground here in CT!
