Sometimes the best way to get good focus for closeups is by setting it in manual and taking a bunch of shots while moving slightly in and out. Yes, the final shot is the clearest. What was your shutter speed? Was it the focus, or the shutter speed making it blurry? I find 1/200th of a sec is generally required for my macro shots. Yours aren’t quite macro, but still fairly detailed. I would like #1 and #4 a lot if they were clearer.
