I personally prefer the second shot better. The coloring is just awesome! It looks to me like the second one has the sun shining “through it”, i.e. it’s back-lit; while the first one is just kind of average as far as lighting and coloring are concerned. The backlighting is what sets it off from the rest of the background, and brings out the colors.
Focus looks pretty good to me, I know that iPhones don’t give you much control over fine-tuning the focus, so I would say it’s probably about as good as you can get under the circumstances.
