I am normally a fan of drop shadows, but in this case since the rest of the card is “flat” I think the shadow is too much different to be helpful. I’d recommend making it consistent.
I think overall the idea is a good one! Just a little more tweaking to make it perfect. :). I endlessly tweak my designs, and even then am hardly ever completely satisfied with them.
