I find this image to be neither compelling nor colorful. The viewers first impression is very important and the first impression that I received was “colorless”. Why?
First, the image is overexposed. Looking straight at the sun so high in the sky, it’s almost impossible not to have blown out highlights in clouds.
Second, it appears some special effect has been added to the image. Usually sky is blue. Around the sun, it’s usually white. But it’s never gray-brown.
Third, the clouds in the center portion of the frame look “colorless” because the vignette provide a hint of color in the clouds in the corners. Very unnatural, and noticeably so.
In taking the picture, I would have underexposed to capture more detail in the clouds. Then, in editing, I would go back to the original version of this image, taking off all effects, and see if there is a way to amplify the natural colors. Perhaps it won’t be a golden sunset, but it will at least look more real.
