@buddingphotographer I also found it to be a common problem with the small Seagate drives. I don’t think any software will fix it, as it sounds like a hardware failure. https://www.300dollardatarecovery.com/ does appear to be good, but I don’t think it will work in this situation
@blessingscaptured, you may be able to find a local place that can do it, just make sure they are reputable.
As for using the drive afterwords, I wouldn’t trust it. I like @buddingphotographer said, you could use it for some non-important or secondary backups, or for transferring data from one computer to another.
