Well, what do you know? 🙂 Personally, like @blessingscaptured I would want to have a standalone version of LR for the day when I can’t afford a subscription any more but still want to be able to access my edits and other LR metadata. But, @lenspirationlydia if you don’t think that will be an issue, then I’m sure @blessingscaptured will be more than happy to relieve you of your copy.* 🙂 It does seem rather redundant to have a subscription and a standalone version, but you will have to decide whether selling your standalone version and then paying $20/month for the rest of your life is worth it to keep access to all your files. Frankly the idea (of paying $250 a year for the rest of my life) appalls me, but then I’m not a full-time photographer who makes much money from my photos, so my perspective is a bit different from a pro. 🙂
The day that LR quits on me, I will be moving to something else other than Adobe software. (Probably RawTherapee, or maybe a pay-once software from some other company. Adobe doesn’t have nearly the monopoly that they used to for photo editing software.) Paying ransom for my files for the rest of my life is not something I’m about to start doing!
*Lydia, if you do decide to sell, make sure you de-register it from your computer. I don’t know if that actually gets you back 1 of your 2 registrations or not, but it’s a good idea to do so anyway. I have moved my copy of LR several times (when I upgrade my laptop, or re-install Windows) and have never run into a limit, and that’s probably because I always de-register the old copy before registering the new install.
