I ended up writing my essay in poetic form! It just came to me that way as I took the photos and thought about how I could express “March” in this area where I live!
I’m not usually much of a poet, so I think the Lord gave this one to me 🙂
“BEAUTY IN THE BROWN”
It’s winter’s end, and spring has yet to show its rapturous glow,
The days are short, the wind is strong, the land bereft of snow.
The month of March – how drab a time, how bleak with nature’s frown,
But wait, my friends, you soon shall see, there’s beauty in the brown.
A thorn…what’s this? A thorn, dear me. It’s ugly, sharp and cruel,
No fragrant roses or sweet fruit to counter thorn’s harsh rule.
But even here we see a thorn, when touched with golden glow
Can be a thing of beauty, needn’t be a dreaded foe.
A twig, a leaf, a single branch when warmed by sunshine’s rays
Each one sings out the glorious truths of our Creator’s praise.
How kind He is, how full of grace to beautify the land,
But sweeter still: your very life is kept by His good hand.
He bids you rest, He offers joy, your weakness He’ll make strong,
And as you lift your gaze in love, He’ll fill your heart with song.
So, my dear friends, when life is bleak and troubles weigh you down,
Look unto Christ, and He’ll become your beauty in the brown.
