Fascinating. Minuscule is just the right adjective to describe it!
About your lens, do you know what your minimum focus distance is? It must be so much fun shooting with an f/2 aperture.
About the photo, I do tend to like the horizontal one better. The vertical one feels somehow static to me, the mushroom being in the center of the frame and a lot of empty bokeh (albeit beautifl bokeh) in the background. It’s sorta like the mushroom gets lost in the many interesting things there are to see in the picture. The horizontal one I dwell on the mushroom itself longer which is very good. I would zoom in (or maybe move in?) a little closer maybe, or just crop as the attachment suggests.
I love the color contrasts and the texture; and the depth created with having something in the foreground blurred out as well as something in the background. It’s amazing what intricate detail there is in an area that we could so easily just step on without a second thought!
