I tried zooming in when I looked over her shoulder so that I could achieve right proportions. In the last webinar, Miss Bennett suggested I zoom in for these kinds of pictures. Did I zoom in an enough? Or is there anything else I could try so that the head/hair doesn’t appear too large?
Yes. To my eye at least, these proportions look great, Ruthann! They have a realistic feeling to them. Good job!
However, I was really having trouble with my camera focusing on foreground objects while blurring the background. (I tried shooting on several different settings) Any suggestions as to how to correct this are welcome.
Great question, Joanna! Adjusting your aperture will largely affect the amount of blur in your photo. The lessons, “On Depth of Field” from the Foundations Course, and “How to Create Beautiful Background Blur” from the Explore series, would be good lessons to review on the topic. Let us know if that helps or if you have more questions about that!
