I’m looking for a laptop for photo editing, school, and graphic designing. Does anyone have any suggestions on good make’s and model’s for around $600? There are a LOT of options out there! Battery life and weight are important to me. I’m not sure if buying Refurbished is wise or not. Thanks
January 25, 2018 at 3:11 pm #28599Ezra MorleyModeratorCheck out https://www.dealnews.com/c49/Computers/Laptops/ Dell Refurbished has some fairly good refurbished laptops for sale.
For photos/graphic design you’ll want an Intel i5 or i7 processor with a minimum of 8GB of RAM. If you can find a good deal, I would highly recommend investing in an SSD for even better performance.

Apple is nice because you don’t have to pay for any internet protection. I use mine for all my editing and I really like it.January 26, 2018 at 2:34 pm #28617James StaddonKeymasterI use a Lenovo Y50-70. It’s been pretty nice the past few years. @buddingphotographer is the one that picked out all the specs for me. 🙂
It’s usually a pretty expensive laptop (over $1000) but it appears as though there’s a refurbished one available at Blinq.com for almost half the regular price. Not ever purchased from Blinq.com, but it looks reputable.
January 26, 2018 at 3:26 pm #28618Jinny SchoberParticipantI got my Dell with Intel i5 brand new last year and it has worked pretty well for what I use it for. It has 8GB ram, and 1 TB of storage. I would recommend it. I got it for half-price, but the original was about 700 bucks. But the price has probably gone down now.
January 27, 2018 at 8:51 am #28624Ezra MorleyModeratorThe reviews of http://www.blinq.com seem rather mixed… Much better than some sites I’ve seen, but it is fairly easy to buy 5 star reviews. 🙁

https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/blinq.comI would probably risk it for a small, low-cost electronic item, but when we’re talking about $600, I would want to make sure I’m getting what I paid for.
Check out the Lenovo’s Outlet Store for refurbished laptops: https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/outletus/c/LAPTOPS/?IPromoID=LEN251549 You can filter the results by i5 or i7 processors to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
January 31, 2018 at 2:58 pm #28715John MachenParticipantHey, Thanks y’all for your help! I thought about getting a Apple, but all of them in my price range were from 2012 and before. I’m a little hesitant about old computers… I ended up getting a new Dell Inspiron 5566 for $580.(Usually $900) Thanks @buddingphotographer for the links, I found the deal on “Dealsnews.” And everyone else whose info helped me make my decision, Thanks.
