PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAM
Workbook download page
Workbook: Phase I
In Phase I, we'll get to know the camera you currently have, learn how to upgrade your photographic equipment to what best suits your needs (if necessary), understand the foundational elements of photography, and start exploring various photography genres by beginning and completing the Foundations of Photography course and shooting for real-life photo assignments for publishers who are looking for our photos.
Workbook: Phase II
In Phase II, we'll delve into learning how to push our camera to the limits, exploring special effects and learning hands-on how to approach and overcome challenging situations that photographers face on a regular basis. We'll walk through the Explore With Your Camera video series, shoot developmental photo assignments, and continue taking pictures for the real-life photo needs of publishers.
Workbook: Phase III
In Phase III, we'll gain hands-on experience in as many genres as possible, from commerical and portrait photography, to landscape and wildlife photography. We'll streamline our post processing workflow, study advanced photography concepts, and hone in on what it takes to supply clients with the type of professional artwork that they will consistently want to use and publish.
Program Goals
The goal of the Lenspiration Photography Program is to help young people learn photography from the ground up: to take a beginner who simply has an excitement for taking pictures from someone who knows very little about photography to a practiced photographer who has enough experience to navigate whatever photography challenge they desire to take on. We accomplish this by helping you:
- Learn how to use the photographic equipment that you currently have
- Learn how and when to upgrade your photographic equipment to what best suits your needs
- Understand the foundational elements of photography, the camera, and related topics
- Explore many genres of photography through photo assignments
- Shoot for current, real-life photo needs of publishers who need photos
- Ease into earning money with your photography skills
Suggested Schedules
If you do not want to complete the program within a certain amount of time, you are free to go through the workbooks at your own pace. Take as long or short as you desire per “Week” in the workbooks.
Here are some suggestions, though, if you would like to take a more structured approach:
- Each workbook is designed to take half a school year for 1/2 credit. Complete each phase by the end of 18 weeks (a typical half a school year). Spend the target number of hours per “Week” in the workbook (4 hours average per week). Total amount of time spent will be 72 hours (an average of less than 50min per day, 5 days per week for those 18 weeks).
- If you want to take things at a slower pace, spend two weeks for every one “Week” in the workbook, going through each phase in one school year for a 1/2 credit. This will take 36 weeks (a typical school year) instead of 18 weeks.
- If you want to use each phase to earn 1 full credit (regardless of how many weeks spent), simply double the suggested target hours you spend completing each "Week" in the workbook.
Timing Tips
It usually works out just fine if you spend less time than the targeted number of hours suggested for any given "Week". If you’re working on an elective, you’ll probably be able to make it up on another "Week" fairly easily.
It’s also ok if you spend more time than the targeted number of hours suggested for any given "Week". If you’re working on an elective and you are spending much more time than expected, you may want to grow the phase into a full credit instead of just a 1/2 credit.
Don’t feel pressured to do more than Phase I. You may decide photography isn’t your thing. However, each phase is different in its own unique way, and you never know what aspect of photography you’ll run into, that looking back, you were glad you pressed on to its discovery.
