@pistol-pete, the first one for “black” is excellent. I don’t think the publisher will like the second one. It’s not a picture of anything that can be identified. The last one could work for “pink”. Is it a crop of a larger photo? Keep looking for beautiful pink skies to photograph over the next couple of weeks.

@pistol-pete, yup! It is ok. As the details state, they’re looking for an “image of the Christmas account in silhouette. Either the wise men travelling, or the manger scene with a night sky behind them and the star of Bethlehem.”

That’s a great suggestion, Hannah! Windows can be a great source of light when you don’t have fancy photography lights 🙂

@pistol-pete, it is fine if you do not have camels. As long as it’s clear that the figures are representing the Christmas account, you should be all set!

Thank you @JamesStaddon for extra detail about the ratio.

@pistol-pete instead of trying to use lights that aren’t strong enough, you could try hanging the table cloth in front of a south facing window. That’s what I did and it worked fairly will.

@pistol-pete, don’t panic. 🙂 Try changing from Manual mode back to one of the automatic modes, and see if you can get a “normal” picture that shows everything correctly. Once you’ve established that your camera does indeed work properly, then you can proceed to try for a silhouette.

@pistol-pete, you may want to ask folks you know if anyone has a nativity set you could borrow before purchasing one. A lot of people have them, so chances are you could borrow one for free! 🙂
