How’s everyone doing with this assignment?? We’ve got one week to go till deadline!

Here are some photos I took. I thought drinking water would be a pretty good way to show healthy choices 🙂

What an adorable lamb, @grace-galdamez! Yes, I’d say these photos could use a little editing. I’m attaching a before/after comparison of unedited vs how I’d edit them so you can see an example. They really only need minimal editing: just a little brightening, warming up and maybe very slight saturation!

When I reviewed the pictures later it was interesting to note how the color of the light had changed as the sun began to set.

@robo062003, great job getting out there and practicing! If you’re working on learning how to focus well, I’d encourage you to work mostly with stationery subjects for starters. Compose your photo so there is an obvious subject, and focus on that. Once you’re more comfortable with that, branch more into moving subjects and complex compositions.…[Read more]

And, Brieanna is correct, Lightroom is not required for the Secrets to Photo Editing course! The course teaches editing principles so you can apply the concepts in whatever program you use.

@blessingcaptured, I shoot in RAW and just adjust in post-processing as well. It’s not a big deal for me. But getting it right in camera is always a good idea, so it’s something I’d like to grow in as well particularly if it becomes more of an issue for me, like you were describing.

Looks like there’s some gorgeous light in the background there! Would’ve been neat to see that included a bit more in the photo, and backing up a bit to include more of the rose bush if possible. The flower is very pretty, though!

when taking pictures “in the wild”, the focus being off seems to be a common problem.
