I took this picture in the backyard of my little sister using my 50 mm lens. I like it but it seems like I could have centered it better or perhaps a different angle…Any suggestions?

As far as composition goes, I think that I would have tried to include her neckline so that the two lines that were created don’t come to a abrupt end at the bottom of the frame. Do you know the rule of thirds? I would have put her eyes on the lower right third “crosshair” lines. Great expression though. Also, you might try finding a really neat background, but that’s not distracting vs just green trees. Well, there’s a few thoughts. Other than that if you have Lightroom, you might want to process that photo a little heavier. Have fun!
What an awesome expression! It has a trusting, content feeling about it.
I think shooting from a slightly higher vantage point would have included more face and less neck. I like, though, that it’s a profile shot, and not looking directly down into the face. What aperture were you shooting with? I think more blur in the background would have been nice.
The image is too small to know if it’s truly sharp, but it appears to be. Technically speaking, the image appears to be slightly underexposed and the white balance slightly cool.
@thefarmhand….Thanks for the advice. I don’t know the rule of the thirds, but I’m gonna look it up. It’s actually green grass but yeah, I see what you mean.

I agree, I realized afterwards there was too much neck in the picture. That was shot with my 50mm lens with a 5.6 aperture. That lens can go down to 1.8 so more blur would have been better. Thanks for the tips!
