Hello!
Here is a panorama I took last year at Resurrection Bay, Alaska, then stitched and edited in Lightroom Classic. I thought it might look better in black and white, so I tried it with the adobe monochrome profile and auto black and white mix. I don’t know much about editing b&w, so any tips are appreciated!
Also, which crop do you think looks better? I think the second one feels more balanced, but does it look better with the snow on the rocks? There is also some kind of glow around the rock in the water. Do you know what could have caused that, and how to fix it?Thanks!

Turning a photo monochrome is a unique and interesting idea – it just changes what you can use the photograph for. From my amateur perspective, I think you’ve nailed it. I’d hang that on my wall any day.
As for the crop, personally I like Color-Resurrection-Bay-Panorama-1.jpg best (though I’d like it even better if it were monochrome like the others.)
BW-Resurrection-Bay-Panorama-2.jpg has very little foreground content on the left, whereas
BW-Resurrection-Bay-Panorama-1.jpg has too much weight on the left, and distracts the eye.
Both feel unbalanced. The crop on the colour version (IMHO) has nailed the balance between framing and foreground-middleground-background ratio.Great job.
Wow, nice shots! I personally like the first monochrome shot and the composition using the rocks and trees as a frame and adding more of the clouds making it more dramatic. Maybe the rocks on the left foreground could use a linear gradient or brush to tone down to keep the focus central kind of like a vignette. I think you did great on the composition with all of the photos with the foreground, mid ground and background. As far as the glow, maybe try using a radial gradient, but I think it’s a good leading line from foreground to mid ground if that is the area you are referring to. Photos are subjective, as James says. But photo one told the story and evoked emotion for me.
