ParticipantI was excited to shoot for Christian Law Association. My family and I have listened to many messages by Mr. Gibbs, the founder of CLA. In his sermons, Mr. Gibbs uses examples from both his ministry and his personal life to show truths.
I tried several shoots for this assignment. The one thing I was trying to learn was how to shoot square photos and still get a pleasant composition with room for text. Do you have any tips for composing square photos? Is the key just being zoomed out enough?

ParticipantWow! I really like your pictures of the bible propped in front of the flag. The other pictures are pretty too. Great Job Ruthann!

ParticipantHere’s some more of my pictures! I kept thinking of new ideas. 🙂
I tried my hand at a Photoshop composite with the flag on the fence. Do you think it looks realistic? I tried to match the light color, angle and time of day. The hardest part for me was matching the color of the flag pole to be “rusty red”. (The original pole was silver). The layout of the church and flag pole was a little tricky. There was the church’s sign beside the pole and it was close to a busy road. I did end up “moving” the flag closer to the church in post.
Create goes to my brother for the military knapsack shot! He had the idea and let me use his bag.
The old barn with the tin-painted flag is in our area and seamed to fit for “America the Beautiful”.

ParticipantHere’s my last set.
My sister helped by holding the flag. I struggled with trying to make it look naturel. I didn’t want the viewer to wonder why a random flag was out in the middle of the pasture. 🙂
This was a fun assignment! Everyone’s pictures look great; I can tell a lot of thought was put into them.
