Gentlemen, after much deliberation, advice, and searching forums for my camera I made a deal for a used K3 and a Pentax Da* 50-135 f/2.8 lens for $800. I am extremely excited to receive the camera and lens and even more excited to see what kind of things I can capture. Thanks for all your help!

So glad you came to a definite conclusion, @adrian-mendoza! Just now browsing the forums after traveling down to Tijuana for a few weeks. Helping out with an orphanage ministry and I gotta tell ya, the kids present some awesome photography opportunities!!
Attached one example. Used a flash in combination with a slow shutter speed to capture crisp detail, ambient light and intentional motion blur all in one. Nothing really special in terms of equipment other than that I used a speedlite. Gotta love photography . . . so many possibilities!
