Nice! I especially like the rock building and the tree reflections!
September 13, 2018 at 3:41 pm #33545Lydia-BParticipantThanks @dan-cope! I agree, that building is really neat. And I’ve come to love reflections 🙂
September 13, 2018 at 5:20 pm #33554James StaddonKeymasterWow, congratulations Lydia! I’m impressed. I like the soft background blur of the carrot one. And it’s neat to see your time spent shooting for STS was worth it for the contest too.
September 15, 2018 at 10:49 am #33576Lydia-BParticipantThanks James! When I look at that carrot, it brings me happy memories of being in the garden at my Grandmaman’s chalet in Quebec 🙂
I’m trying to learn that when I’m taking pics for STS I should take time to take general pictures of the scene as well. There were a couple times, for example when I went with my sister on the rocks at a beach for “Hiding in Thee”, and I mostly just took pictures for the assignment, and didn’t really take pictures just of the scenery while I was there, which I very much regretted later! I love STS, but I’m learning it’s also good to not be too narrowly focused on the specific assignment either!

Good reminder!

This is so me! I often come away from shooting STS and regret not slowing down to take pictures that would work well on places like Lightstock etc. I’m trying to implement doing though, too. 😉

I think that right there is the key. Since photography is just something I do on the side, I don’t always have tons of time to take pictures so I rush my way through things, and then afterwards there are little details that I could’ve removed from the scene to make it less cluttered or extra pictures I could’ve taken of the scenery, etc., but I didn’t do those things because I didn’t take the time, and I end up regretting it later.

Yes! That’s totally me. If I just slowed down and made sure I got the picture I really wanted, I think I’d get better results. I think this is something I personally can apply to all areas of life. It’s far to easy to get caught up in the business of everyday day life or trying so hard to get your ‘To Do List’ done, that you don’t take the time for the little important things. Don’t you love how the lessons you learn through photography can be applied to everyday life?! 😉
September 19, 2018 at 8:37 pm #33653Lydia-BParticipantYes, it’s been so neat as I’ve been learning photography more in-depth recently – I’ve learned so much about myself and about the Lord!
And I have to say, Caitlin, it’s kinda nice to know that you struggle with these things too… you take great pictures, so I know there’s hope for me! 😀

Well, I’m glad if my photography struggles can be an encouragement to you! Often times, you can think you’re the only one struggling with something and then you talk about it with others and you find out they struggle with the same thing. And it’s like really?! I thought I was the only one. 🙂
you take great pictures, so I know there’s hope for me! 😀
😊 That’s very kind of you. Oftentimes I really don’t feel like my photos are all that great. . .
Oh! Nonsense! Off course there’s hope for you! You’re so creative when it comes to posing, it puts me to shame. 🙂
September 20, 2018 at 3:24 pm #33682Lydia-BParticipantWell thanks for your comments! It’s been fun chatting with you 🙂
