KeymasterA question for the geeks out there (see attached photos): After the latest LR update, I’m getting the attached popup message (1). In “Device Manager”, I can see that I have two “Display adapters”, both appearing to be old versions from 2016 and 2017 (2). So, the question is, how do I update these? I did try the following:
I clicked “Update Driver” on both, and received the same message for both, “The best drivers for your device are already installed.” (3)
I clicked on “Search for updated drivers on Windows Update” and my computer is up to date (though my computer is not compatible with Windows 11). (4)
I clicked “Learn More…” in the LR popup. It takes me to a “Manually install Graphic Drivers in Windows” page (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/install-video-drivers.html) and I didn’t know exactly how to proceed from here. 🙂
Do I need to do some manual driver installations? Do I need to manually install both the Intel and NVIDIA graphic drivers? Some geeky assistance would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

ModeratorWhat’s your laptop model, James? The best place to look for the latest graphics drivers is probably the manufacturer’s website in the Support section.
If they don’t have anything newer than Windows Update can find, then I probably wouldn’t be too worried. I doubt you’ll actually see any major issues by continuing the way you have been (but I could easily be proven wrong…)

ModeratorI would be very cautious about installing generic graphics drivers even if Adobe thinks it’s a good idea. A bad graphics driver can cause blue screen crashes and all sorts of trouble, so definitely make sure you have backups and a way out if you go that route.

KeymasterThank you, Ezra! Good thoughts. I feel in the dark when it comes to talking about computer-related things. 🙂
I have a Lenovo Y50-70.

ParticipantI actually have gone through the exact same thing before! I also have an Intel driver on a different computer than I normally use now, and have updated directly on the manufacturer’s site. I am not on that computer at the moment, so tomorrow I will take some screenshots of how I went about that.

ModeratorSo the official Lenovo downloads for the Lenovo Y50-70 can be found here. Looks like they haven’t been updated since 2016 (so you likely have the latest version already). The version numbers do not match what your screenshots show though, so I don’t know what is going on with that.
Out of curiosity, I checked out Intel’s website for the Intel® HD Graphics 4600 and found this page with downloads (last updated 2021). If you click through to the download page, Intel has this little note:
The driver or software for your Intel® component might have been changed or replaced by the computer manufacturer. We recommend you work with your computer manufacturer before installing our driver so you don’t lose features or customizations.
So… you could try, but definitely make sure you have good backups and a way to roll back your changes if something goes haywire. Again, if LR/PS aren’t actually giving you any problems, I probably would just sit tight and not worry about Adobe’s nagging. 🙂

ParticipantI think Ezra covered everything! I hope your drivers can get successfully updated. 😀
