You could trying to brighten it and increase the contrast a little bit. If you get the chance to photograph it again 🙂 you could try a lower angle and get a shallower depth of focus. I like it with the tablecloth for the background it looks nice and “Christmasy”

Yes, @jamesstaddon I bought the Altura Pro Series Digital SLR Universal Flash off amazon.com for $39.00 and it came with a soft box diffuser thing (I’m not sure what’s called) 🙂 I just got it so haven’t used it much but I really like it.
I just finished building the website for the business I am starting.

On the first one you could try to focus to the left of the egg so the exploding part is more “there” though thats just me.
The second pic. you could maybe zoom and crop out a little bit so you can see more of the egg.

I will be photographing some families in my area’s homeschool group and would like some advice on some flashes or anything else for lighting.
(preferably under $100) All I have right now is the built in flash.
Very pretty photo! But I think it does look a little artificial. If you do want to replace backgrounds leave a little bit of texture like a few branches.
Personally I like photos better when theres a subject and also like a blurred backgrounds. That’s just my point of view.
