The photo is taken on June 20, 2017 with a Sony a6300 mirrorless camera using ISO 3200, 50mm, F/13 at 1/2000 speed on a bright sunny day. (The farm lane is actually our driveway.) This photo is submitted as part of a student assignment in “Explore Your Camera” Lenspiration training course.
It’s down to 78kb as it is. Don’t think I can get it any lower. Seem to be having lots of problems. Have yet to successfully load a picture. Best I go on to something else. Don’t know how to delete these two posts, but if you do, please let me know.
It worked that time! Nice picture! Nice blurry background! I think it’s a little odd that the top of the pitcher is cut off, maybe if you zoomed out a little more. Also, it might have been nicer if the pitcher was on the other side of the picture and we could see more of the road in the background. By the way I like the pitcher! 🙂
I appreciate those good comments. I’ll know to look for these kinds of things in the future. Seems there is a lot more to a really good picture than I once thought…but, I’m learning.
Hey @vince, yes, definitely, 78KB is plenty small enough. What did you do differently that allowed the picture to upload on the morning of June 21st?
I love the homey, wistful feeling you’ve portrayed here; a “sippin’-lemonade-under-the-shade-of-the-trees” feel. It connects me back to nostalgic emotions associated with taking a quick break for cool refreshment in the middle of a long, hard workday under the hot summer sun.
I’ve never seen a pitcher sitting on a fence post before, so it might relate better with viewers if it was sitting on a picnic table or being carried by someone.
I’ve heard it said that if you crop a subject on one side, crop it on a second side as well. Cropping one side off often looks like a mistake, as is the case in this shot.
You could get much better background blur if you were shooting at an aperture wider than f/13 (like f/4).
You could also increase the quality of the photo dramatically by decreasing your ISO to as low as possible (like 100). Let the shutter speed go as fast as it pleases.
