It appears the depth of field is unevenly distributed on the right branch. The top is in focus, but the majority, lower part is out of focus. I believe the f/2.8 appeture is creating a very shallow depth of field and the two branches are very close to each other. This makes the right branch look like it’s on the same plane but “blurred” rather somewhere in the background on a different plane. If you measure the size of the flowers on the two branches, they look identical. Whereas, something in the background should look at least a little smaller in order to display the actual depth.
