James StaddonKeymasterThis photoshoot wasn’t what I had originally planned on, but it ended up being lots of fun. I was expecting most of my shots to be candid, but after following Robert and the family around, it became evident that “picture-perfect moments” just don’t happen easily by themselves. It didn’t mean I had to pose every photo, but asking Robert to intentionally interact with the kids, and sometimes telling them to do specific things or stand in specific places helped me get better shots. That one shot with the parakeet is definitely my favorite! She got the bird, I asked Robert to get on his knees, and it worked out really nicely.

Blessings CapturedParticipantShould the pictures have space for words, like the Mother’s day ones that we shot for the Family Conference?

Lydia BennettKeymasterIt would be a good idea to include space for words, @blessingscaptured!

James StaddonKeymasterI love the old fashioned look, and the tools theme too!

JJLwenParticipantI’m hoping to still participate in this assignment. Even though I have 8 siblings and 5 younger brothers, I still haven’t had many ideas until now. I have an idea of photographing my dad at work, which would be cool.
@jenna I really like your photos! It gives me the impression of a dad at a job site, working to provide for his family. Your pictures gave me the idea, so I’ll see if it works.-Jerrell

Lydia BennettKeymasterThat’s a great idea, @jerrell! Doing something together hands on with his sons would be a great way to picture fatherhood.
If it’s helpful for anyone, here are some posed and candid ideas of fathers with young children from my portfolio.
