@Abbie, The water I took a photo of the first time was off of one of our points. I live on the Chesapeake Bay in southern VA. The second photo was from a farm the next creek over from mine. The creeks around here are all saltwater, and are usually about 50-100 yrds. wide. The second photo looked out onto the saltwater North river, which is about a mile wide. Around here rivers/creeks don’t “flow” because they are tidal. (Hence why you thought it was a pond…) In my county, wherever you are, 80% of the time you are within 1/2 mile of a creek/river/bay. So we live on the water, because our county sticks out in it! 🙂
