KeymasterHi everyone,
A friend of mine is working on a book reprinting project, and is trying to recreate the cover. Problem is, he doesn’t have the original book cover image, and what he has is too low quality for the printer to accept.
He’s been looking on stock for a replacement photo, and just can’t seem to find one. Would you by chance happen to have a picture that looks similar to the attached?
If you do, please reply to this thread with the low-resolution version attached ASAP. He may only consider photos provided this weekend, with the deadline he’s on. He will pay for the photo.

ParticipantDo you need a location release from the home owner?

Keymaster@blessingscaptured, from my understanding, you should not necessarily need a property release since I believe this would be considered “artistic” purposes, rather than “commercial” purposes. Reviewing this article might help: https://www.lenspiration.com/video/photo-permissions/
Of course, it would be wise to make sure you have permission from the property owners to use pictures of their property, but as I understand, it would not be a requirement in this particular situation.

KeymasterYes, I believe that is correct.

ParticipantThank you for clarifying that for me. Releases can get confusing for me especially the part about commercial is pictures “being used for the promotion of an idea”.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get any photos.August 28, 2021 at 5:16 pm #64528Christian H.
ParticipantThank you for the clarification too! Releases are always confusing to me too. 🙂
Looking through my photos, I don’t see any that look quite like the one on your friend’s book cover; but I found these three that he might be interested in looking at. The rest of my “house” photos are either not very good quality, or they are more “mansion-style” pictures. 🙂
Even the stone house photo below may not quite exactly match his theme. The brick house, to my mind, looks more like a real estate ad; and there is a little bit of reflection in the storm door that I don’t really care for. I personally like the frame house photo, but not sure if there is too much “negative space,” making the house have a “further away” feel to me.
Anyway, just maybe one of them will appeal to your friend’s eye! If not, I hope that he is able to find something soon that matches more closely. 🙂

KeymasterThanks @christian-horstmann! I’ll keep this thread updated as things move forward. Evidently it hasn’t been super high priority since I haven’t heard back from my contact in a while.
