KeymasterDue to my dad’s failing health, and the extra time it is taking to care for him at this time, it was a huge blessing for you to take on the demonstration video, @lenspirationlydia!
I think if I had the time to photograph this assignment I would have incorporated some elements of physical exertion, like hiking a steep trail, or actually climbing up some rocks. Attached is a photo the publisher sent me that gives insight into the look and feel of what he is going for. It’s obviously an AI generated composite, so I wouldn’t expect anyone to actually photograph something exactly like it, but maybe it would inspire some ideas for those of you who live close to mountainous territory.
Looking forward to all the creative ideas you all will come up with!

ParticipantI love your pictures Laura and Jemima! My Dad is 50 and the oldest of my brothers is only 16 so I wasn’t sure if I could do it. =)

ParticipantWow! I love the mountains in the background of the photo of the boys on the road @laura-aome! Where is that?
Also, @anita, I wasn’t sure if I could do this assignment either, because I don’t have any brothers and my dad is also over forty. But James said that it would be all right if I just showed my dad’s hands lighting a campfire or took a picture where he was a small figure hiking a mountain. I tried to take photos that didn’t show his face. Hopefully that helps!

ParticipantHere’s the ones I got. It was interesting how the light on the trees changed the picture. In the first one of him on the path in the woods. I had him walking toward the sun, but it wasn’t glowy. Then I had him walk away from the sun, but the sun was shinning on the trees and it looked more lively.
To get the starburst, I added it in PS. I tried stopping down my aperture but it wasn’t making a burst.

Participant@anita, Thank you for your comments! My dad is over 50, although he is included in the last picture I submitted. Definitely give this assignment a try! Another idea might be a silhouette, like Hannah did:)
@molong, Thank you too! The picture was taken in NZ beside a tiny highland lake called Lake Sarah, near Arthur’s Pass🙂October 24, 2024 at 8:08 pm #90897Joanna Potter
ParticipantHere are my photos for this months assignment. I wasn’t sure how this assignment would work out. I had planned on going to a state park near us that has some really great overlooks and hiking trails with some of my brothers and their friends, however that didn’t work out. Instead I went to a local hiking trail with a couple of my brothers and my dad. Neither of my brothers was over 18, so I tried to not show their faces.
In these photos I was trying to portray mapping and plotting out your course, and success and victory after reaching your goal.
