Here is one of the shots that I got while waiting for the eclipse to happen. Sadly, the clouds that you see in the photo completely obliterated the moon during the eclipse, so I never actually got a picture of the eclipse. I was just fooling with the shutter speed and noticed that it actually looked kinda nice, so I tried a little harder and managed to get this!

Super cool! A merge of two pictures to get the moon in there, right? Very well done. I like the blowing foreground elements. And I don’t get the impression it’s underexposed, which is very common for dead-of-night shots. Lot of elements going on here, and you even have the balancing element of empty space in the top left side of the picture. If the moon was dead center, it would not complement the otherwise active movements of the other elements. I like this shot, and would go so far as to say it’s better than any of the shots I took during the same lunar eclipse.
Actually no, it is not a merge of two photos! I don’t really know how I got the moon to show so sharply with 2.5 second exposure! As you can see in the attached crop, the moon isn’t really tack sharp at all, but the resized version is a lot more forgiving as far as sharpness is concerned. Probably the motion blur from the clouds contributes to the ‘optical illusion’ of sharpness also.
