I see, @Joshua_Ong. Then that shows the difference between documentation and art. Sometimes the two can be mixed, but if the intent is to make memories, than sometimes it doesn’t matter how artistic it looks. Documenting artistically is a real art, though, and is the mark of a good photojournalist.
As for the starburst effect, as long as you keep your aperture narrow, you should be able to keep the starburst effect regardless of how far in or out you are zoomed.
In terms of documenting artistically, I do like your second shot here. And perhaps shooting vertically would have made it even better.
