I took this pic at Parents Weekend at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The original pic did not have very much color in the sky, so I decided to warm up the White Balance to make it look better. Any thoughts on the pic, or on the way I edited it?
ISO – 100
Shutter speed – 1/800

I’m glad it’s not a photo of a single plane dead center in the frame. The off-centered subjects are important, and it’s nice to have those clouds on the right to balance it out.
I don’t exactly know how I would better frame it. I don’t really know how I would better shoot an airshow frankly. The more planes in the pic the better I would assume.
In processing, perhaps increase the Clarity or sharpness.

I might try cropping a little higher to give a little more air above the top plane.
I’ve never shot an airshow myself. Having my brother-in-law in the past about it, I remember him recommending that one play around with a slightly lower shutter speed for prop driven aircraft. Some people like to get just a little blur in the prop to give the impression of movement, but not so much that the blades completely disappear. I really like how you timed that first shot in regards to the plane’s location relative to the clouds.September 25, 2017 at 5:53 pm #25906James StaddonKeymasterNice comment about the propellers, @nasa! I would never have thought of that!
@jinnyschober, great way to frame a set of four in a composition! I don’t think I would have thought of that either. 🙂 It’s hard that there’s not as much texture, and it seems slightly blurred to me.I don’t know what program you have for adding borders, but something a little less stark or digitized in appearance seems to suit my fancy a little better.

I was actually just using something in Lightroom for the borders. That is an interesting border, not sure if I like it? What are some good programs for adding borders?
