@warrior-princess, I would probably steer clear of the international model sold by a 3rd party seller on Amazon. Chances are it won’t have a valid USA warranty, and it’s a bit of a gamble as to whether what you get is actually a legitimate brand new camera. Stick with authorized dealers, and you’ll probably be better off.
If you want to spend the money on a new camera with full warranty and no hassle, my recommendation would be this kit at Adorama: https://www.adorama.com/icat7ka.html
If you do buy renewed, definitely compare prices; there are some much cheaper ones on Amazon than the one you linked to here. 🙂 Not sure I’d recommend “renewed” either though. If I were on a serious budget, then I would buy used from Keh.com (you’ll need to buy a lens separately), which has a 180 day warranty (compared to Amazon’s 90 day).
Happy shopping! Black Friday is not too far off, so I would definitely keep an eye out for sales/coupons that you can take advantage of then. 🙂

December 2, 2022 at 2:27 pm #73669James StaddonKeymasterHi @warrior-princess, I got caught up with all the busyness surrounding Thanksgiving and didn’t see your questions to respond to!
Good choice! The first link you sent expired, but international models should be indicated in the title if using Amazon. Another way to tell a camera is an international model is if they use “three/four numbers and a D” (like 2000D), instead of “Rebel T#” (like Rebel T7) on the front of the camera. The attached image would most likely NOT be an international model.
And “Renewed” is safe! Almost all of my equipment is renewed, or as it used to be called, refurbished.

December 2, 2022 at 5:37 pm #73676Warrior PrincessParticipant@jamesstaddon Thanks for your input! I actually just reread what you had said about the T7, and I had forgotten you said you weren’t a fan of it. Did I make a bad decision? What are the factors that make you not like it? Is it still a good beginner camera or should I return it? I am a bit worried now…
December 2, 2022 at 5:49 pm #73678Warrior PrincessParticipantDecember 6, 2022 at 1:27 pm #73707James StaddonKeymasterSo fun, @warrior-princess! There’s quite an exciting feeling, when a camera arrives in the mail! Know the feeling well. 🙂
I wouldn’t worry about it too much. It’s a DSLR, and you now have interchangeability in lenses, the ability to shoot in Manual, and the potential for some fantastic quality photos! Play with it for a few weeks and see if you run into major equipment limitations. I assume you will not. However, I do think you’ll grow out of it sooner than you would, say, a T7i. But it all comes down to the amount you were willing to pay, though, I think. How much did you end up investing in it? The reason I said I didn’t like it as much as other cameras is because it has a low fps (3fps) and few focus points (only 9). But it’s definitely still a major upgrade from what you had.
December 6, 2022 at 9:42 pm #73711Warrior PrincessParticipant@jamesstaddon Oh, good! I am so glad that it’s all right. I definitely have not experienced any limitations. The only limitation is in the lens, because I keep wanting to take landscapes, and find that I will surely invest in a wide-angle lens one day soon. My course is going so well, and I am enjoying your teaching! I take my camera everywhere I go, and am getting some good shots. I love everything about it, and see my interests gravitating toward landscape/wildlife and travel photography!
I got the kit for a total of $533 including tax, and that came with the camera, 30-55mm lens, strap, Takima tripod (which is of great quality!), 2 San Disks, 2 battery packs, battery charger, cleaning kit, set of 3 lens filters, and camera bag. I am very happy with the kit, and I have run into only one problem- I can’t get the UV filter off of the original lens! 😀
