Wow, I’ve got mixed feeling on that one. I liked the B&W version, but when I saw the color version, it really appeals to me too! You added a vignette also, didn’t you?

The whole picture seems rather busy, I guess that’s the way swamps are! 🙂 I like how the “subject” is framed by the trees in the foreground, and the lighter part in the middle also helps to draw the eye to the subject.

Just for fun, I wanted to see what I could get from it with Lightroom, here’s my version:

Yes I added a vignette. This was at dusk with a long lens.

Wow, that was fast! I hadn’t even finished editing my reply! 🙂

Here’s a visual comparison of your B&W version and mine.

I used Lightroom’s “Black and White Mix Tool” It automatically makes it’s own version of it, but I messed with the sliders till I thought it looked pretty good.

Here’s a screenshot of the settings I used.

I do like the B&W one. There’s too much going on to appreciate the color.

It’s nice that the pattern of trees stand out. I really wish the foreground trunks were not out-of-focus.

It’s also too bad that there’s a branch intruding through the top left corner of the frame.
