Hi all!
I’ve recently been running into a problem when I’ve been trying to launch Adobe Creative Cloud or Adobe Lightroom Classic. I can’t use the programs at the moment due to this issue.
It’s been coming up with these error messages when I try to open them. (1st and 2nd attachments)
After a bit of research online, it appears as though the only way to fix this error is to uninstall and then reinstall the apps. So, I went to uninstall Lightroom on my computer, by going to the ‘control panel’, ‘programs’, ‘uninstall programs’ but after clicking the uninstall button nothing happens. I then tried to uninstall the ‘Creative Cloud’ app, but then I got this error message. (3rd attachment)So after more research, I came across an article that said to use the ‘Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner App’ when this problem occurs. Before I go ahead and try to sort out how to use that, I just wanted to check to see if anyone else has ever come across this issue? And how did you solve it? I’m a bit hesitant to use the Cleaner App as it came up with warnings about losing information etc and needing to take backups. So, I would rather avoid all that if possible, but I guess it might be necessary. 🙂

Make sure Windows Update is up to date, and if that doesn’t fix the problem, you might want to try installing the latest version of MSVC from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads. Try the x64 version first, and if that doesn’t work, then try the x86 version as well.
The bigger question, though, is why all of a sudden is this error occurring? It might not hurt to run a virus scan and make sure that there aren’t bigger issues going on behind the scenes. Perhaps it’s a botched Windows Update, or some other rogue software deleted stuff that it shouldn’t have. @lenspirationlydia can sympathize with your troubles I think. 🙂
And yes, it’s definitely a good idea to make sure your LR catalog is backed up!
Don’t hesitate to ask more questions, or report progress or failures; I’ll be happy to look into it further if you’re still having trouble after trying the steps above.

So, I started off with updating Windows. That didn’t solve the problem. So I went and downloaded the x64 version of MSVC. I was then able to open Lightroom and use that without any issues. But I still had error messages popping up for Creative Cloud and I couldn’t access that app. So, I then tried the x86 version. And everything is working properly and there’s no more error messages! I did run a virus scan as well, but everything appeared to be fine. Very pleased that it was such a simple solution!
As to why it just started happening, I really have no idea. The strange thing is that about 2 months ago, I was having this issue. I didn’t use either Creative Cloud or Lightroom for a number of weeks. And then when I used it again, it worked for that day. But then the next day, when I tried it, all the error messages popped up again, making the app inaccessible. So I don’t know why that was the case.
Anyway, as far as I know, everything is solved now. 🙂
