That’s a great suggestion, Hannah! Windows can be a great source of light when you don’t have fancy photography lights 🙂
@pistol-pete, it is fine if you do not have camels. As long as it’s clear that the figures are representing the Christmas account, you should be all set!@pistol-pete, yup! It is ok. As the details state, they’re looking for an “image of the Christmas account in silhouette. Either the wise men travelling, or the manger scene with a night sky behind them and the star of Bethlehem.”
Here’s my Christmas silhouettes!
I set up a four-layered blue plastic table cloth in front of a south window. Because it was a small background area, I zoomed in to 70mm so I could capitalize on all the space I did have.I did basic edits in Lightroom. Then in Photoshop I used a starburst brush for the star of Bethlehem. For the small stars I randomly used a round white brush at 50% opacity.
On the Wisemen and Shepard shots, I question where I put the star of Bethlehem. It seems to be the most nature spot for the picture, but then I don’t know if it left enough space for text.
While I had everything set up, I threw in a picture of Fisher Price little people. I thought they’d maybe find a use for it since it’s a pregnancy center.

I really enjoyed the Coaching Webinar. Without a lot of photos to critique, I felt like I was able to spend more time on deeper topics and think through more specific takeaways. I hadn’t thought much before about how imitation tends toward discouragement while inspiration empowers. Do you factor in the hidden cost of outward results? And what exactly are clients actually purchasing when they hire a photographer? It was really a good webinar!
