Hey! I was in a hotel room in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, MD and I got this photo at sunrise. I was actually a little bored and taking random pictures out the window when I got this photo.
I edited it but the building on the right is leaning in and I couldn’t fix that with distortion control. I wanted to know if there was a way to fix that or not and any other editing I need to do with this photo.

Did you mean to make the verticals perfectly vertical, like this? That would be called “perspective correction” or “rotate and perspecctive”, or something similar, depending on your software.

Hey, David! Thanks for taking the time to edit the photo. Yes, I had actually already tried to fix the verticals with that slider but it makes the center building look much wider at the top than at the bottom.
I wasn’t sure if there was another slider that could fix the distortion or if I should leave it like it is. Thanks!
That’s actually quite a nice photo for being taken from a hotel room window! I would be snapping photos too with that sunset. 🙂
When the verticals are perfectly vertical, and the top of the building looks wider at the top than at the bottom, it made me wonder if it actually WAS wider or just LOOKED wider.
Using David’s photo, I took it into Photoshop and sure enough, it’s an optical illusion. The verticals are technically perfectly vertical, and the building is not wider at the top than it is at the bottom.
It still LOOKS wider at the top, but it’s an optical illusion. And I guess the reason for that is because naturally, lines move inward when you’re looking up at an object. So to be technical, the distortion correction is actually introducing distortion from what is natural. 🙂
Perhaps what you could do here, @donna_machen, is do some distortion correction to make the vertical lines almost vertical, but just not go all the way?

Hey James! I tried what you said in the first photo and cropped it in the second photo to cut out the building on the right. I also increased tint and used color grading to give it more of a pink/sunrise feel.
It definitely looks better but do you think there is anything else I should do to it?
