Hi All,
My sister currently has a DSlR, but is wanting to get a point and shoot camera. She wants something that’s easier to use and for situations where she doesn’t feel like lugging around her DSLR. She’s currently looking into the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200/TZ200 and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this camera?

I’ve no experience with this particular model of camera, but with most point-and-shoot cameras, they slow down with time. Though they’re inexpensive, they’re not made really tough. Anyway, that’s pretty much true with all the point-and-shoot cameras of all marks I’ve worked with (Canon, Nikon, Olympus). From a bit of quick research, it looks pretty decent, though some say the lens is a bit soft.I thought it was worth bringing up: Has she considered mirrorless cameras as an option? It might be a viable one, since at least one major goal seems to be reduce size. She could always just keep it in auto mode, to keep things simple technically. If ever she does decide (like two or three years from now) to do more professonal stuff, she’ll already have a pretty good camera and be able to upgrade lenses etc. without buying a new camera.

@creative-click-photography I actually have been researching the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G85 mirrorless! I think it looks like a wonderful camera, and it isn’t that heavy.
I am wondering if it is as good a choice as a Canon or Nikon. Have you or your sister ever owned a Panasonic?
If the specs are same/similar, than it’ll be a good camera, regardless if it’s a Canon or Panasonic.
Just as a little update, my sister ending up purchasing the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200/TZ200! 🙂 We looked into mirrorless but due to the price and size, she decided to go with the point and shoot for now and she is very happy with her purchase. It’s just what she was wanting. 🙂 Thanks for your help!
