I took this picture sometime last year I think while leaning rather precariously out my bedroom window. 🙂
Image Specs:
-ISO 320
-Focal length 50mm
-f/11
-1/1250My 50mm prime lens isn’t the greatest for landscape/longer distance shots, but I think it did pretty well in the this case (since it really wasn’t THAT far). Any thoughts or suggestions? (Note: Though I like images with wide space for text, usual Scripture verses or quotations, this image demanded it due to the fact that if I had moved the camera further left, I’d have had a lovely roof in the way, haha. 😉 )

This “sunburst” (not exactly sure what to call “sun reflecting off water to make a starry effect”…) image was taken last year at one of our local rivers!

@jamesstaddon did a really thorough critique on the original shot (which I had submitted for the “Refreshing” assignment)! One of his suggestions was to crop it down (to what you see now); I like the effect better I think. 🙂Any other suggestions?

Yeah, I like that better! Of course, it has everything to do with you capturing your vision, so it doesn’t really matter what I think, but whatever I can do to help you better hone and capture what you like, I’ll help were I can!
I really like the sunburst in that first picture, Morgan! Nice job despite your unique location. 😀 If you don’t like the amount of open space in the picture, could you have included more at the bottom since you couldn’t go to the left?
If not, I agree that some text would be nice in the open space.
And I really like all the sparkles in the 2nd picture!
I really like the sunburst in the first image! I think it’s good how you took one image with a lot of space as that can really come in handy if you’re wanting to design something with a Bible verse like you said. But I also thought that maybe you could’ve tried a vertical on it. So get rid of all the empty space on the right and fill the frame with the main subject (tree and sunburst) instead. I don’t know, just an idea! 🙂
Beautiful water in the other image! It reminds me of a lake I was at awhile ago. It could just be my screen, but I feel that it’s a bit dark. I almost feel myself leaning in to pear at it in order to see all the details. 😉 With all the white sparkles it would be hard to brighten it without them becoming blown out. Maybe you could trying pull out the shadows a bit?
