Hi @James! What is the age limit for your workshops? And do you make any exceptions? Thank you!
August 21, 2015 at 10:27 pm #13097James StaddonKeymasterHey @oksch, thanks for asking. (And thanks for your participation on the forums these days!)
The age limit is 15 and older, but I certainly do make exceptions. For younger folks, it has everything to do with level of experience, level of interest, and comfortability of interacting with older students.
For older folks, they just have to be agile for the outdoor shooting times.
August 22, 2015 at 7:14 am #13098O. S.ParticipantThanks @james! I’m almost 12, so I might be too young. My experience level is about beginner intermediate, and I LOVE photography! As far as older students, my best friends are years older then me, so I’m pretty comfortable with people older than me. I have a Canon Rebel T5, a tripod, a lap top, and Lightroom. Would I be too young?
If an exception is made, I’ll consider coming to the Vermont one with my brother tyler 🙂
August 24, 2015 at 11:29 am #13121James StaddonKeymasterHmm, hard to say, @oksch! Coming with your brother certainly would make it more feasible for sure. However, I still think it would be best to wait a year or two.
But let me ask two questions of my own: Do you have a place online where you post your pictures? And, are you taking the Foundations of Photography Course?
August 24, 2015 at 12:02 pm #13122O. S.Participant@james. No I don’t have a place to post my photos. Would you need to see some? And no I’m not taking the course. I did t think it was available to the free membership, but I would totally take it if it was.
August 25, 2015 at 7:32 am #13133James StaddonKeymasterYes, it would be nice to see some of your work. Do you think you might be able to upload some pictures somewhere and send me a link?
No, the Foundations Course is not part of the PRO Membership, but PRO Members do receive a 50% coupon on it.
August 26, 2015 at 9:08 am #13179O. S.ParticipantHi @James! Any way I could email you some pictures? If not thats fine but I thought I would check.
August 27, 2015 at 12:40 pm #13238James StaddonKeymasterSure! Just send half a dozen or so to [email protected]. If you can, downsize them so that they are less than 1MB in size.
September 3, 2015 at 10:45 am #13332James StaddonKeymasterIt certainly didn’t hurt to ask, but considering all the factors, I think it would be wise to wait another year before coming to a CAPTURE. There’s a lot to learn in photography, and there will be many ways to increase your skills through experience, reading and talking with your friends over the next year or so that I think you will be grateful to have known before coming to a workshop!
You certainly have an eye for photography, so keep up the practice, continue gaining experience and we’ll see if CAPTURE comes back to Vermont in the future!
