Hey @rmadaris,
Nice shot! Aperture, focal length, and shutter speed look okay to me. 🙂
Couple comments…
There does seem to be a noticeable amount of grain/noise in the shot…what was your ISO? Composition wise, I like how you worked with the thirds! Maybe try this image in B&W as the image feels yellowed? No, I’ve never seen them perform…only their Canadian counterparts, the Snowbirds. 😉
July 25, 2018 at 11:33 am #32338Lydia-BParticipantNice picture @rmadaris! That must have been really neat to see them perform – I’ve never seen them in person, but I remember watching a video about them once and it was just amazing.
July 25, 2018 at 8:33 pm #32395Ryan MadarisParticipant@bennett-family, thanks! I always love to see them perform. In some of the flight formations they do, the jet’s wings are 18 inches apart, and they’re flying at several hundred miles per hour!
Morgan, thank you! I believe my ISO was around 800. As I wasn’t shooting in RAW at the time, it was kinda hard to remove the noise in post-processing.

That’s just incredible!!
July 25, 2018 at 9:01 pm #32398Lydia-BParticipantOk, so now my curiosity is aroused. Do they perform only in Pensacola, or other places as well? And are their shows open to the public? Like you can just up and go to a Blue Angels show?

like @morganwriter1gmail-com said I would try B&W
and no I have not seen the Blue Angels but I wish I have!!July 25, 2018 at 10:56 pm #32400Ryan MadarisParticipant@bennett-family, no, they perform in other places as well. Their next performance is in Fargo, North Dakota on the 28th and 29th. It costs about $40,000 in jet fuel to run the jets in one 75 minute show, so the money has to come from somewhere! I think at most air shows that they perform, though, it costs about 25 to 30 dollars for adults.

And honestly, 25-30 bucks isn’t that bad a price… people pay that just to go to a concert or a show at a theater. And the Blue Angels are way more epic than most concerts or shows!!
The B&W looks nice; I’m wondering if you could brighten the sky at all…. it looks dark to me.
July 26, 2018 at 2:31 pm #32409Morgan GiesbrechtParticipantHappy to help, Ryan!
July 26, 2018 at 2:34 pm #32410Morgan GiesbrechtParticipantI really like this shot in B&W! I’d agree with Lydia; it does look a bit dark so brightening the image if possible would help. 🙂
