Blessings CapturedParticipantSo they don’t have any preferred orientation or crop ratio? It’s just whatever fits best with the picture? I didn’t know if how they where going to use it made a difference (text, Facebook etc.).
BTW: Photo Critique #63 starting at 01:26:50, talks about making text readable on pictures. It was really helpful for me.

Lydia BennettKeymasterThat’s correct, @blessingscaptured! There’s no preferred orientation or crop ratio! Pretty much any orientation/crop works for any of those platforms – text, Facebook, website.

That’s a really good question, @esther. I typically use the ESV; is there going to be a problem with that, @jamesstaddon, or should we try to stick to the more traditional (at least in the USA) KJV, which they use on their website? Or it doesn’t make any difference?

Christian H.ParticipantThis does look like a fun assignment! I LOVE to do these kind of Bible verse-and-photo projects! 🙂

ParticipantHere are a few submissions drawn from my portfolio; mostly they’re from the ESV. (English Standard Version)

ModeratorI love verse pics! Here’s one I made the other day, after @Jamesstaddon inspired me with his beautiful typographic skills. I dabble in graphics design, but this kind of thing is a bit above my skill level. @jamesstaddon if you ever do some training on making things like this, please let me know; I’d be interested!

Great question @esther! No special requirements on the version, just stay away from paraphrases like “The Message”. 🙂 ESV is fine, @frazer-family.

Lydia BennettKeymasterSo fun to see submissions coming in already!
I enjoyed putting together a few Verse Pics today, and thought I’d post them here! For the clock picture, it was a real challenge to make the text readable with the busy background of clock numbers! I ended up adding shadow, some glow, and a gradient overlay beneath the words.

Blessings CapturedParticipantIs there anyway to get the Photoshop files to be smaller? Mine are ending up being 75 MB or more. (Makes for slow uploading.)

Caitlin ComptonParticipantWhat a fun assignment!
I’ve been laid up for a couple of weeks due to an injury, so I thought that I would take the time to design a number of VersePics. Normally I would use Photoshop or Illustrator for this type of project, but because I wasn’t able to use my computer, I experimented with an app called ‘Over’. I was really impressed with this app and all the features it had. 🙂 The only thing that I was disappointed about, is that there was no way to save the files so that you had editable layers – I’m hoping that’ll be ok!
